Title: PPP Secures Unprecedented Victory in Interior Sindh Elections
In a remarkable turn of events, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has achieved an extraordinary and decisive triumph in five out of six administrative divisions in interior Sindh. This resounding victory witnessed the PPP capturing 37 out of 39 National Assembly seats and an impressive 74 out of 83 Sindh Assembly seats.
The PPP displayed its dominance by sweeping through 22 districts, securing 11 National Assembly and 24 Sindh Assembly seats in Hyderabad division alone. Similarly, the party secured eight National Assembly and 16 Sindh Assembly seats in Larkana, seven National Assembly and 11 provincial assembly seats in Sukkur, six National Assembly and 12 provincial assembly seats in Nawabshah, and five National Assembly and 11 provincial assembly seats in Mirpurkhas division.
Despite facing setbacks in two National Assembly seats in Hyderabad, the PPP managed to secure victories in the majority of constituencies across the five divisions. Notably, the party showed improved performance compared to the 2018 elections, with a decrease in losses in provincial assembly seats.
Challenges to the PPP’s dominance primarily came from independent candidates backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), as well as candidates from Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA). However, these challenges were largely overcome by the PPP’s widespread support base.
The strength of the PPP’s electoral fortress was most apparent in the Mirpurkhas division, where the party faced no defeats across all constituencies. Even in divisions like Larkana and Nawabshah, the PPP suffered minimal losses, highlighting its firm grip on these regions.
The elections also witnessed surprising outcomes, notably in constituencies previously considered strongholds of rival parties. The PPP managed to secure victories in districts such as Sanghar and Khairpur, causing upsets for the Grand Democratic Alliance.
However, there were instances where the PPP faced stiff competition, particularly in constituencies where other parties showed strong support. Despite these challenges, the PPP’s candidates emerged victorious in several closely contested races.
Key figures within the PPP, including Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, and their family members, secured their respective seats with significant margins. This reaffirmed the party’s stronghold and the trust placed in its leadership by the electorate.
In Karachi, the PPP faced stiff competition from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). However, the MQM emerged as the dominant force in the city, securing a significant number of National Assembly and provincial assembly seats.
Overall, the PPP’s landslide victory in interior Sindh underscores its enduring popularity and strong electoral performance in the region. The results solidify the party’s position as a formidable political entity, with widespread support across various divisions in the province.
